An Unorthodox Intellectual

An Unorthodox Intellectual Welcome to a mind of a mad man. I built the hospital I was born in. My shadow is the second most interesting man in the world. Biloxi, MS. Hampton University Grad. Just moved to Asia. Aries. Black. Conscience. Compassionate. Trifling. Savage. I have a black rose tatted over my heart. Full of life.

How Cuban Villagers Learned They Descended From Sierra Leone Slaves

They were adamant about going all out. People who sing the village’s songs—melodies and rhythms that tie them to this inaccessible chiefdom — are considered family. “Our grandparents who told us the stories about our people going as slaves, we know now that they didn’t lie,” says Joe Allie, an elder of the village and Pokawa’s uncle.
“These must be our people,” says Solomon Musa, a young man who works as a teacher in the village, “when we saw the people who practice the same things we used to do, we were so happy, we are full of joy.”

“His name is Kendrick Kj Johnson he was beaten to death at his High School here in Valdosta Ga the police is covering up his story by saying there was no foul play but clearly you can see its a lie. They have yet to give the Johnson/Tooley family any answers. Im only asking for a minute of your time to plz share his story we need all the support we can get. Please support the Kendrick Kj Johnson movement.”

To everyone following my blog, please share this information! Time has repeated itself and repeated the Emmett Till Case all over again.  The Valdosta Police are trying to say that he climbed on top of  an upright tumbling mat, fell into it upside down and died… He went missing during one of his classes and was found the next day like what you see above. The police would not let the family identify the body upon finding KJ’s body…. Now I don’t know about you but no one would be that bloated and disfigured after 24hrs stuck in a tumbling mat.

Below you will find a link to a compilation of News articles involving his death and a petition go get the federal government involved in solving his murder.

This Family deserves answers, prayers, and Justice! Please Share and get our communities involved!!!

A friend suggested we take this one step further:

Help get his story seen on CNN by calling 404-827-1500. Press option 1 and tell them that you are calling about Kendrick Johnson, who was found dead in Valdosta, Georgia.

The Dapper Rebels of Los Angeles, 1966

In the summer of 1965, riots broke out in the Watts neighborhood of southern Los Angeles. Over a six-day period, 34 people were killed, 1,032 injured and over 3,438 arrests were made. In 1966, LIFE magazine revisited the site of the worst riots America had ever seen in its history. The photo essay depicting the region’s ‘fearsome street gangs’ however, turned out more like a fashion shoot for dapper style…

This article is such an interesting look at the history of black fashion, quintessential “Los Angeles” style, and how we perceive early gang culture. I’m fascinated with the pride of dress shown by the “dapper rebels” and the dignity presented in their portraits and photos.
